Children’s Nature Club Programme for 2018:

21 October

16 December

Children aged 11 and under and their families are welcome.  We meet at the Pavilion at the Park entrance, next to the car park, but we always spend a good part of the time out and about on the Park and Nature Reserve. At each session we have a different wildlife topic and, as well as exploring nature itself, we have art and craft activities to tie in with our topic. We also serve free refreshments.

We have had visiting hedgehogs, barn owls, quails, chicks and ducklings, been out on nature trails, pond dipping, bird watching and listening, worm investigating, blackberrying and surveying hedgerows. We have made and flown kites, planted trees, made minibeast homes and feeders for birds and butterflies. The Club is free of charge.

Wild Days Out

In the school holidays the Friends of Sinfin Moor Park offer nature events for children accompanied by parents or carers to explore nature and enjoy games and art and craft activities in the outdoor environment of the Park and Nature Reserve.

We have had fun den-building, minibeast hunting, playing parachute games and taking part in sack races and scavenger hunts, as well as making frog-lodges and other habitats and making bark and leaf rubbings.  At Easter we have had egg trails and made miniature gardens, using natural things found in the Park and Nature Reserve.  Many of these events have been organised in partnership with the former Sinfin Families Action Network (now part of Sinfin Community Exchange, based at Sinfin Community Centre, Swallowdale Road).   Dedicated Active Dads also link with us to provide activities, such as rocket-making and launching.
